Australian Kelpies it is known since 1870, now on the Australian continent than 100000 Kelpies are more. The name Kelpies has received from water kelpie which is mentioned in one of products of Scottish author Lui Stevensona.
Presumably Kelpies has resulted from crossing of a wild dog of a dingo about a Border Collie. Kelpies are peculiar some habits of a wild dog: for example, grazing sheep or cows, Kelpies bends down to the earth a head, as though creeping to a victim.
Despite the small size Kelpies dexterously copes with the big horned livestock, goats and sheep, poultry. They will surpass any other breed the extraordinary obedience and hunting to work. Kelpies never is lazy, works accurately and with pleasure.
On the native land Kelpies works all the day long, without having a rest and without distracting on trifles, for a day running hundreds kilometres. Kelpies does not take out inactivity and boredom, it needs regular job - for it it is meaning of the life!
Â

Kelpies alone can cope with one thousand sheep on an open pasture. It will quickly collect the animals who have beaten off from herd. To get over as soon as possible from one end of herd on another, Kelpies can jump on backs of animals. The obstinate animals, not obeyed Kelpies, risk to be bitten for feet!
It is impossible to name Kelpies a house dog, he/she is the working dog demanding constant employment. It is vigorous and happy, if the owner has given it employment.
If at Kelpies there will be a good loading and frequent walks it conditionally will approach for the maintenance in the house, but demands consecutive education.
