The Berger de Picardie, possibly, belongs to oldest of the European breeds of dog. On medieval engravings and drawings there are images of dogs very similar to a Berger de Picardie.
Presumably, a Berger de Picardie has appeared in France in IX century. A bit reminding Griffona, Berger de Picardies accompanied shepherds and in a XVIII-th century.
In the end of a XIX-th century a Berger de Picardie have started to plant as factory, but it has appeared almost completely destroyed during the First World War.
Subsequently selectors have restored again a Picardie sheepdog by 1948. As breed the Picardie sheepdog has been recognised in 1923, a FCI has confirmed the breed standard in 1964.
PICARDY SHEPHERD

Mountain Picardie sheepdog Independent and courageous, this dog at the same time possesses rather reserved and quiet, equal character. It is unpretentious in the maintenance and it is suitable for any work.
For the maintenance in apartment these dogs are a little suitable. The open space for an energy output is necessary to Berger de Picardies. But nevertheless in the bosom of the family the Picardie sheepdog is improbably betrayed and tender to children.
The wool demands leaving - regular vigorous cleaning and combing. The Berger de Picardie is used as the shepherd's dog, a sentry dog and a dog-partner
