The broholmer or the Old Danish dog is the powerful heavy dog used in the past for persecution of big game (a bear or a wild boar). The broholmer has given rise to many breeds a mastiff-shaped of dogs.
Possibly, the broholmer as breed was generated in 19 century. Breed originates from such breeds as an English mastiff and a German mastiff.
At one time the broholmer has practically disappeared, as need for such large dogs was gone. Across all Denmark last broholmers have been collected and thanks to thoroughbred cultivation breed has revived.
The Danish broholmer More recently the broholmer has appeared again on the verge of disappearance. Danes again have begun to revive ancient breed. Puppies gave only to responsible factory owners with a condition of the further cultivation.
Demand for these dogs is very great till now. Despite world popularity of the broholmer, the best manufacturers of this breed are not taken out from the country. A broholmer - a house dog, at all aggressive, quiet and patient, kind in relation to children.
