The Belgian sheepdog was generated by the end of 19 centuries in Belgium where basically drew duty of the security guard and the shepherd.
By forces of cynologists it has been deduced four versions of the Belgian sheepdog, differing on a colour and wool type: a tervueren, a groenendael, a malinois and a laekenois.
All four versions are united under the uniform standard and have no cardinal distinctions both in behaviour, and in working qualities. Their distinction only on appearance.
Â

The Belgian sheepdog - an unpretentious and hardy dog, with considerably expressed security instinct, to the obedient owner and able to work independently if that is demanded by a situation.
He/she is the fine defender and the partner of the owner and his family. "Belgian" is easily trained, is very reasonable, treats kindly children. They are quick and tireless, vigilant in relation to another's people and are tender to the members of household.
The Tervueren demands a lot of movement, long and frequent walks. As a whole, it is an excellent dog for a family and the house which feels comfortably both in small apartment and in a court yard.
The wool of a tervueren does not demand special leaving, she needs to be combed regularly.
