The exact origin of this breed is not known, though on appearance of the Dutch Smoushond it is possible to tell about its relationship with a German schnauzer. Participation of a terrier is not excluded also.
In the end of 1800th years the Smoushond was popular as a dog-partner, but during the Second World War this breed has practically disappeared. Attempts to rescue breed were vain.
In the early seventies certain madam Barkman has started to collect the information on the Dutch Smoushond. It studied family trees and pictures, communicated and communicated with people who saw this breed.
By perfect cultivation madam Barkman has achieved that has restored initial type of the Dutch Smoushond and closely was engaged in breed cultivation.
Smoushond Now the Dutch Smoushond is almost unknown outside of the Netherlands, and factory owners of this breed do not express strong interest to advancement of this breed. Annually in Holland is born about 125 puppies of a Smoushond.
Smoushond - a quick active dog, the excellent hunter of rats and any other rodents. It is hardy and dared, is not inclined to runaways and vagrancy. The Smoushond easily gets on with other dogs, is quiet to cats.
The wool of the Dutch Smoushond two times a year needs to do a trimming. Besides as required to delete superfluous hair from ears and between fingers and small pillows. On walk the Smoushond will not refuse to run about without a lead, to dig a hole or to swim for a while.
