The komondor occurs from the Tibetan dogs. Some think that the komondor has got to Hungary one thousand years ago together with nomadic Hungarians. However, newer researches show that komondors have arrived with half-sheep.

The earliest written reference about a komondor is dated sixteenth century. Then these dogs used as security guards of huge herds of sheep. The komondor could act alone on a meeting even to such predator, as a bear!

Since 1920 komondors participated in many displays, and their popularity has extended about all to the world. Now komondors are extraordinary popular in the USA as dogs-partners and security dogs.

At us in Russia this dog became popular rather recently, komondors - constant participants of exhibitions.
