There is a set of assumptions of a Kuvasz origin. Some assert that the Kuvasz was known, since blossoming of Gunny. Others assume that in 1200 this sheepdog accompanied the Turkish refugees escaping from Mongolia to Hungary.

In an interval with 1458 for 1490, a Kuvasz it was popular thanks to king Matjasu I who confirmed that trusts only to the dogs, instead of people. After death of the king, the Kuvasz has returned to the position of a usual security dog.

Besides the security service, some trained a Kuvasz to hunt on big game - a bear or a wild wild boar with what the Kuvasz not bad consulted as possessed boldness, force and rage.

In 16 century the Kuvasz became popular as the shepherd's dog. It protected herds of sheep from an attack of wolves. The Hungarian shepherds, overtaking the cattle, took with itself of Kuvaszes and sold them in other countries. Some dogs mixed up with local dogs, on the way lagging behind herd and being lost.

After the Second World War in the world remains about 30 Hungarian Kuvaszes. And only thanks to the present admirers of this breed, number of Kuvaszes has been again restored.

This breed, probably, has brought the contribution to development of other shepherd's sentry dogs, such as the Polish Podhalanski sheepdog, maremmano-abrutstskaja a sheepdog, Coban Köpegi and a mountain dog.

 

Now the Kuvasz is more and more popular as a dog-partner or the security guard of property of the owner. This dog will not approach the beginning dog breeder as demands the skilled approach to education and training.

She is a courageous and fearless dog, with obviously expressed territorial and protective instincts. He/she is the magnificent defender for apartment or a country house. The Kuvasz is especially vigilant will attack on the infringer at night then it without hesitating.

This dog will be excellent to feel in the open air, with a condition of presence of a warm and spacious kennel. The Kuvasz is not sensitive to weather conditions, easily cold, but does not love a heat.
