Breed was formed as the shepherd's dog and was called before the Munich dog. It is the largest among schnauzers and the strongest. Because of the extraordinary sizes of its ability of a terrier get though and impressing, but an a bit horrible kind: it crumbles jaws of rats, without batting an eyelid.

As the assistant to a postear a dog a riesenschnauzer was popular and was widely used until industrial revolution has not reached Munich.

Having lost the value as the assistant to a postear, these huge relatives of terriers have passed to caretaking service to dealers milk and to brewers. New owners became factory owners of this breed, having replaced in this role of farmers.

Strong and brawny riesenschnauzer - the sample of courage and fearlessness. It radiates power and energy. She is a dog of compact addition, with the short case, free and vigorous movements.

The riesenschnauzer is one of the most hardy working dogs, known to the person. Firmness of a body and spirit causes the quiet relation to any weather conditions and living conditions.

Despite the big sizes, to it rather smaller physical activities and less efforts for passage of a course of training, than to many other large breeds of dog are required.
