The Schipperke is probable, occurs from German Spitz from which breed and managed peaked ears and compact addition, characteristic for northern breeds - Laika and Spitz.
The Schipperke represents the tiny hunting doggie on rats and mice. Despite the small sizes Schipperke applied to protection of barges and the ships in Belgium, it was the reliable security guard.
Schipperke traditionally was the companion of seamen (paternal has received a nickname "small шкипер"), but has got popularity and among inhabitants of coast as a remarkable fighter of rodents. At corresponding training Schipperke can hunt on rabbits and moles.
Schipperke For the first time Schipperke has been shown at an exhibition in Bruxelles in 1690, the breed standard has been accepted in 1882. Now breed was recognised not only in the homeland, but also abroad - in many countries of the world!
Hardy and active Schipperke with pleasure perceives long walks. The small sizes, unpretentiousness and intelligence put Schipperke abreast the dogs most convenient for the room maintenance.
Rather recently Schipperke have appeared and in Russia. While breed is not so numerous, but some nurseries already offer puppies on sale.
