Terriers (English and fr. terrier, from an armour. terra - land), bunch of breeds of dog,designed for hunting for animals living in holes and extirpation with gnawers. Modern terriers are used also as office (for example, airdales, Russian black terriers), hunting (fox terriers, Jagdterriers and so forth) and decorative (that-terriers, etc.)
