Modern schnauzers, or bearded Pinschers, occur from Germany (Bavaria) and the countries adjoining to it - Switzerland and Austria. In the Middle Ages they were known in areas Vjurtenberga and Tirolja. Close relatives of breed - Pinschers, Spitzes, terriers.
Schnauzer - strong combined dog of a square format with a large oblong head of a characteristic angular profile. Its main feature - compactness which is underlined by the general fortress and sufficient volume of all making elements of a structure of a dog.
Created in the conditions of typically German rationalism, the schnauzer represents that perfect product of the cultural dog breeding which each detail is thought very carefully over and has the special functional purpose.
Zwergschnauzer (Schnauzer) represents the reduced copy of a standard schnauzer, keeping all features and advantages of the last. Prompt, strong and dexterous, the schnauzer has a delicate ear, a fine sense of smell, and iron nerves. As the guard dog, a schnauzer shows enviable comprehension in the course of training, judiciousness, sharpness, solid persistence and business passion.
Zwergschnauzer If in second half of XIX-th century the dwarfish form "big the rat-hunter" still found of itself wide application as regards destruction of rodents during an urbanization epoch on a boundary of the XIX-XX-th centuries the dwarfish wire-haired Pinscher for many has become an ideal city dog: its small dimensions demand less place, walk - it is less than time, and the maintenance - is less than expenses, than it is necessary for the big dog.
Dog breeders from among the former owners of nurseries of larger schnauzers, in perfection knowing the nature of these dogs become its adherents. Experts on a fertile breeding material aspire to surpass all already reached by then in cultivation of the big schnauzers.
Desire as much as possible to keep qualities of a typical schnauzer became basic at formation of a specific goal of cultivation of dogs of certain type and the size.

Zwergschnauzer Though it is considered that Zwergschnauzers mainly occur from small schnauzers of the standard size, in multistage process of formation of a kind it is possible to judge reliability of participation of this or that breed only under statements of eyewitnesses and isolated records in breeding books.
The German dwarfish Pinscher which "on spirit" and on the habits is rather close to a Zwergschnauzer became one of base breeds, according to German selectors. As the ancestor the Zwergschnauzer consider a Pinscher on a nickname of Alli-Geller from Shvaabsky area of Germany about what the famous expert on schnauzers, the authoritative expert and the first president of German the Pinscher-schnauzer of club Joseph Berta has written in the small essay devoted to Zwergschnauzers.
Breed creation, in accuracy repeating an ex-terrier a Schnauzer became a problem of selectors, but is considerable smaller on the size, and the weakness thus deprived all signs which are peculiar to all dwarfish breeds of dog. The Zwergschnauzer has been urged to become an exception to the rules - it should unite parametres mutually exclusive: on the one hand - the small size, and with another - a fortress and a structure harmony, temperament and character of the big dog.
Zwergschnauzer The purpose was put difficult enough and exigeant: at the first stages of work without use of dwarfish breeds it was impossible to manage. Naturally, in the course of interpedigree crossing factory owners tried the most unexpected combinations.
The standard which gave to enthusiasts "food for reflexions" at creation of desirable shape of new breed, became Schnauzers. Thanks to it it was possible to give to a wire-haired Pinscher of that time necessary validity, to find sources for the further perfection of pedigree type.
Already in the first volume of the breeding book of the German Pinscher-schnauzer-club, left in 1923, in confirmed henceforth and for ever the standard in black and white appeared: "the Zwergschnauzer is the reduced copy of a schnauzer with preservation of all features and advantages of the last".
Zwergschnauzer By the end of 30th years breed was considerably levelled that at once has affected level of popularity of Zwergschnauzers not only in Germany, but also in Europe, and after has caused their further distribution worldwide. During the period with 1925 for 1935 about hundred Zwergschnauzers it has been taken out to the USA.
She is a cheerful and amusing dog who is very betrayed to the owner and with watchfulness concerns strangers. The sensitive watchman, a thunder-storm of mice and rats, incorruptible and the faithful companion. Working qualities of this breed in what do not concede to abilities of its larger relatives.
The small schnauzer - a find for those who wishes to go in for sports, but has no possibility to contain at home larger breed of dog. Thanks to Zwergschnauzer occurrence the German dream of universality of this original group of breeds of dog has got quite tangible forms.
It is necessary to note and a variety of colours: "pepper with salt", black, black-silvery and white. Any future owner is free to choose from existing variants of breed that dog who in a greater degree corresponds to its tastes and representations, to possibilities to provide to an animal a comfortable and high-grade life.
